Extended Service Offerings : Cylinder BarCode Tracking Capability

All cylinders are labeled with bar codes at the Middlesex Gases fill plant location.  Label material is 5 mil white polyester with a 1 mil matte polyester UV resistant laminate.  Labels are 1 3/4 inches wide by 3/4 inches high.  Two labels are affixed to each cylinder.

Upon delivery, all cylinders, full and empty, are scanned with the Symbol PDT-8146 handheld computer.  Data pertinent to each delivery (customer number, customer billing and shipping information, customer purchase order, bar code number, cylinder gas type, Middlesex order number, etc.) is stored in the handheld device.  A three inch wide "Cylinder Transaction Receipt" is generated with the Zebra Cameo-3 printer and left with the customer at completion of delivery.  Multiple copies of this document are available if required.

When a handheld is returned to the Middlesex facility all stored data is uploaded via Ethernet cradle to the Computer's Unlimited BARZ cylinder tracking system.  All cylinder transactions go through an extensive verification process before they are "posted" to the individual end user account.

Once cylinders are posted to the individual end user account, numerous reports can be generated to show cylinder status.  Cylinder transaction information is retained for the life of the cylinder.

In the event a cylinder is returned from a location that it was not delivered to, the system makes an automatic "adjustment" to relieve the cylinder from the proper account.
